We have talked about facts and opinions. A fact is something that we can prove with text evidence. An opinion is something that either the reader or author feels. We may agree or disagree with an opinion. Read for 20 minutes. Record the title and author of your book. Then, record either 1 fact or 1 opinion from your book. Tell us how you know that the sentence is a fact or an opinion. Happy Reading.

One fact in the book was that Greg wrote a paper about chimps and that chimps are supposed to be smart. I know this is a fact because Greg was supposed to write a non fiction thing about an animal so I know that chimps are supposed to be smart is a fact.

I read Country Dog,City Dog by Susan Stevens. City dog thinks that the country is not a place for him. I know that my sentence is an opinion because City Dog thinks that the country is not good for any dog in the city.

ReplyDeleteI started to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid Cabin Fever by Jeff Kinney. This is a fact from the book - last year when Greg's Mom was going through some old boxes, she found a homemade doll from her childhood. It is a fact because she really found a doll that she played with when she was little.
I'm reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Last Straw by Jeff Kinney.Greg is lazy,I think that is a opionion because other people think Greg isn't lazy.
ReplyDeleteI am still reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling. Harry's opinion of Professor Grubbly-Plank is that she is annoying. This is an opinion because it is what Harry thinks, but maybe not others.
