After you complete at least 20 minutes of reading please record the following:

  • Author
  • One new or beautiful word and the CONTEXT CLUES (sentence or words) that helped you know that word's meaning.

  1. I read Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder. A word that I was having trouble with is... clenched. The context clues that helped me figure out what clenched mean were and the muscles of his arm bulged.

  4. Today I read Karlson Flies Again by Astrid Lindgren. The word I chose was hygienic. The context clues that helped me figure out what this word meant was that Karlson had a vacuum.

  9. I read Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar. when I didn't Know what the word accidentally I read the sentence and the sentence was Wayside school was accidentally built sideways helped me figure out that the word meat forgot.

  11. I read How to Speak Dragonese by Cressida Cowell. THe word pupils means students. these young boys were Gobber's pupils, young members of teh tribe of the hairy hooligans.

  14. I read Goddess Girls #2: Persephone The Phony by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams. My new word was chiton. The words that helped me were, "...a goddessgirl in a pale blue chiton - the flowing gown that was all the rage among goddesses...".

  18. I read Romana and her Mother by Beverly Cleary. When I read the word"Swink" I didn't know what it was so I read the sentence agian and it was a persons name.
