10/9/12 Genre

We reviewed genre last week.  Read for 20 minutes.  Record the title and author of your book in the comment section.  Then write 2-5 sentences telling me what genre your book fits in and why.  You can use this LINK to help remind you about the different types of genres.  Use my example to guide you.

    I think this book genre is fantasy. I think it's fantasy because there no such thing as monsters.

  2. I read Just Grace and the Snack Attack. By Charies Harper.I think it is realistic fiction because it could happen. Also it reminds me of talking to my friends.

  3. we are still reading Hamster Magic which is a chapter book. By lynne jonell. the genre of the book is mystery. the mystery is how the hamster can talk and he grants wishes, so it could also be in the fantasy genre.

  4. I read Hurricanes and Tornadoes by Kate Waters. It is a non fiction book About Nature. It talks about how many tornados and huricanes are in countries like the U.S.A.

    Ivy and Bean want to stop Global Warming. They want to help the polar bears so they won't die out like the dinosaurs. I think it is realistic fiction because it could happen but it is also in the fantasy genre.

    The illustration sounds like it happened.

    I think it is realistic fiction because you could have pets in your class like the book.

  9. I read "Nate The Great And The Missing Key". I think that the book is in the mystery genre, because when a key mysteriously disappears,Nate investigates and finds the missing key.He finds out that the key was in his friend's dog collar.

  10. I read Sponge Bob Saves the Day by Sarah Willson. It was fiction because there was a sponge talking. It was fake because there was a sponge under the water, he had weird teeth, hands and feet.

    I think this book is Realistic Fiction because he found a fortune cookie and it said "Today you will surpass all others."Anybody could have a good fortune.

    I think Big Nate is realistic fiction.In the book he got a black eye on picture day.
    He got detention until thanksgiving because had lied to his teacher and said that he had a family emergency and skip his homework.

  15. I am reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling. The genre of my book is fantasy because in my book they are using wands and flying broomsticks in the TriWizard tournament. I know there is no such thing as magic wands and flying broomsticks.

    I think it is a fantasy because mouse can talk.
    I also think it is a fantasy because Despereanx was able to read.
    Despereanx went to the dungeon to die.

  17. I am reading Clementine by Sara Pennypacker. I think the genre of this book is Realistic Fiction because the girl in the story sounds like a real person doing things I can imagine but it is a made up story.

    I finished reading Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus by B. Park. This book is realistic fiction because it is about a normal girl who rides a bus to school. All characters are people who do not exist, but could in real life.

  21. I'm reading Harry Potter And The CHAMBER of SECRETS by J.K.ROWLING.I think the genre of this book is fantasy because Harry Potter drank a potion and turned into a new person.That cannot happen in a real world.

  22. I read Bones and the Big Yellow Mystery by David A. Adler. I think it fits in realistic fiction because the kid was solving his bus driver's mystery. He helped his driver trace back his steps and found his bus.

  23. I raed winnie the horse gentler. The author is Danni Mackall. The genre is realistic fiction because she is training horses and it sounds realistic but is a made up story.
