This week in reading we are continuing to use Fix- Up strategies. We are learning about using context clues to help us figure out the meaning of unknown words. Read for 20 minutes. Record the Title of your book and the Author’s name. Write about a word that you used context clues to find the meaning for or tell about other reading strategies you used.

  9. Tittle: Harry Potter And The Prisoner of AZkaban byJ.K. Rowling.I was stucked in this sentance:They watched him apprehensively, since I didn't understand the word apprehensivly.I was curious why those kids were watching that old man so I read after and before that sentance.I figured out that apprehensivly means with concern.

    I used context clues to figure what the word pavilion meant. My clues were open-air and a circular arena.

    I started to read Ivy and-Bean Break The Fossil Record by Annie Barrows. The word I found that I didn't know was sphynx cat. I kept reading on and I found that it is a cat that has no fur.

    It had a confusing word that I couldn't pronounce. It told me how to pronounce it like (PRO-nown-s).

  18. I read Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. I didn't know what chewing up Rodrick meant so I found wake up and stand up. Chewing up Rodrick means waking him up.
