We have been learning to infer in class. Use the inference equation BK+TC=I to make an inference during your 20 minutes of reading tonight. In the comment section, leave the title, author, background knowledge, and text clues that helped you make an inference. I've create an example to help you: Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak The book told me that Max was sent to bed without anything to eat. I know that sometimes kids are sent to bed early when they get in trouble. I can infer that Max's mom must be mad at him.

I read On The Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder. One inference I had was that Laura was going to tell ma about the secret because she almost choked.

ReplyDeleteI read Goddess Girls Persephone the Phony by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams. My BK is in Communion class we talked about Hell and how you get there. My TC is "Tartarus was said to be the worst place in the Underworld. It was where the truly evil wound up." My inference is that the Underworld in the book is like Hell in the bible where evil people go.

I read password to larkspur lane by carolyn keene. I can infer effe was scared about being alone because she hid in the trunk. what the I know this because when I'm scared I normally hide. the book told me that effe hid in the trunk because she didn't want to go inside with Nancy.

I read something out of my 3rd grade spectrum book. It is called snakes. The author is spectrum reading. I can infer that some snakes are poisonous and some are not because there are different kinds of snakes in the world.
ReplyDeleteI read Dolphin Tale by Gabrielle Reyes. I know that Winter is trapped on the beach she does not make any sound but when Sawyer rescued her she makes trilling noises. Every time she sees Sawyer she makes the same noise. I can infer that Winter is stressed out when she is quiet and when she sees Sawyer and makes the noise she is happy.

The story tells me “it was neatly caught up over the arm that he held the umbrella so as to keep it from trailing in the snow”. We know umbrellas are used for rain and snow protection. By having an umbrella we infer that it was raining or snowing.
