This week in reading we are continuing to use Fix- Up strategies. We are learning about using context clues to help us figure out the meaning of unknown words. Read for 20 minutes. Record the Title of your book and the Author’s name. Write about a word that you used context clues to find the meaning for or tell about other reading strategies you used.
I'm reading puppy place Buddy by Ellen Miles.I didn't know what what foster ment so I just read on and use other words around it.
ReplyDeleteI read Woods Runner and i got caught on the word courteous but i used my context clues. The clues I found were nodded to people and figured out it means kind.

I did not know what tremendous meant but once I read on, I learned that it means big in this sentence.

Tittle:Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling.My difficult word was shunting.The words that helped me are mass of people,pushing away,and along.I think shunting means pushing.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was reading Ivy and Bean-Break The Fossil Record I found a word that was really tricky. Gloopy was the word I had trouble with. When I reread the sentence and looked at the context clues I understood it much better. Now I know that gloopy means to be a little sad.

ReplyDeleteI used context clues to figure out the word stereotypical. When reading more it talked about hair and girls having a tan so I figured it was talking about what they looked like.
